Sending Virus Sample

If you know which file that was infected (or which file is the worm) you can upload it to rapidshare, filegone, or other similar services. You can also upload it to your we server, and as the last resort, you can send the virus sample to yohanes at compactbyte.com.

Infected files should be compressed using ZIP or 7Z and passworded, but if you don't know how, just send it as it is. If you send a file as it is, the file might be blocked on the way to my Inbox (perhaps by your company). You can email me for conformation whether I have received the virus.

Finding the files to send

If you are sure that your computer got infected by a virus. You should ask your more knowledgeable friend to find the virus files for you. There are several methos to find out the infected files:
  1. By looking at CAV's output if you see a message stating that a program has been killed, but was not detected on the scanning process, then that file might be a new virus.
  2. Run msconfig, see what programs are being run at startup. Programs with strange names are likely to be virus. To run msconfig, click 'Start', 'Run', type 'msconfig' then press enter.
  3. Run antivirus program like antivir or Norman Antivirus to check for suspicous program. Both antivirus has the heuristic ability to detect whether a program is a virus (and sometimes it can clean the virus, but sometimes can't).
