Nokia 3650 As a Modem

Infrared

  1. Update the Standard IR Modem driver to the Nokia Modem Driver (from the CD)
  2. For GPRS: set the Access Point Name
  3. Create a new network connection (using windows network wizard
  4. Fill in the necessary parameters (such as phone number [use *99# for GPRS], login, and password)

Bluetooth

Modem connection through bluetooth can easily be done by setting the APN on the phone, using phone number *99# and by filling the correct user name/password combination

Tips: set the computer to be authorized, so it wont ask for your approval when using the phone connection.

Cable

Never tried this one, anyone has more info on this?

SSH

A port of putty for series 60 is available from http://s2putty.sf.net, it has a terminal emulator that enables you to log in to your server which has ssh daemon turned on. It may not be comfortable to use because of the 3650 keyboard.

Avant Go

Avant Go is the fast and economical way to read news from the Internet (read more at the software section)

Instant Messaging

Agile Messenger is the best messenger application for 3650 (and perhaps for all the Series 60). AM supports multiple protocol (Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and AOL) with smilies (although not all of them are compatible with your desktop IM application), and push to talk support.

Email

The default mail client for Series 60 is good enough for my every day use, it already supports POP and IMAP (both with secure connection) protocols, it supports attachments, and integrates very well with the 3650 (e.g. the attachment can be opened with the appropriate application).
